Why paper finishing

General

In general, paper is coated to increase its value.

But it can be also about a security issue or preparation of paper for its later function (For example, you could never fill milk in a bag made of newspaper).

An uncoated paper (as for example newspaper pages) is not water- or dirt-proof, is quite boring without any accentuation and is neither stable nor resilient.


For that reason:

• you get black fingers when reading a newspaper
• the picture in your newspaper do not have any shine
• paper boats sink after a certain period of time
• paper hats are not water-proof
